Robie's Country Store Series II; 1999 N.H. State Library Robie's Country Store
Owner: Lloyd Robie (shown here)
From: Hooksett, New Hampshire

This store remained in the family for 110 years after George Robie bought it in 1887. It was an obligatory stop for presidential candidates from 1952-1996. In 1975 Lloyd Robie was playing checkers on the cracker barrel when a stranger interrupted and added to the first-in-the-nation presidential primary's political folklore by saying,

"I'm Jimmy Carter, running for president." Robie responded, "Jimmy who?"
